Being purely mercenary though it would be counter productive to repair them so I've avoided anything much to do with any of the factory fit stuff for any cars, not just ours!
Besides, spare parts apart from using donar units are non existent
That's what I meant, no point you fixing them
If you can fit upgrades I'd love a nice DD unit but other people keep finding things to spend my money on

Funny you should say that!
Back in the early 70s I spent a long time chatting with the guy from the radio section of a local garage. We discussed the various benefits of 8 track and cassette and I eventually decided on 8 track
Theoretically it was a superior format, with a higher tape speed and continuous play, Of course nobody mentioned the tape slipping due to gunged up rollers!

I even had an 8 track recorder at home

We still have a rack of 8 track play out machines in the radio studio at work.
Back in the day they were used for jingles etc before Dat took over and now of course it's all run on PC

That's right jingles and ads for commercial radio.
How things have changed.

Back in the day I drove an Escort MkI van, only because I needed the space for all the cartridges

All the happiness that used to be

Soon I'll find repose
And in dreams, you're always near to me

I'll see you in my dreams
And then I'll hold you in my dreams
