Default Trip computer activation switch question

Having just acquired a CDT Tourer with a trip computer (for the first time), I'd like some confirmation please that the press-switch on the end of the indicator stalk is purely that - just a long- and short-momentary switch which either completes a power source or an earth.

Reason being I need the switch for another mod which I add to all my cars. If it's simply a switch as I think it is, I'll mount another momentary switch on the dash for it. Thanks.

Dougie.

It just grounds a pin in the IPK plug.
