Thanks for the warning! That's precisely the kind of thing I want to avoid.

Andy, I did think of you, but for some reason I thought I had been told that you had retired. I must have got the wrong end of the stick. If Andy's Autos here in York can't help, I'll get in touch with you.

Default oh my god how much!

Hi there I've always wanted a rover 75 and about 6 weeks ago I pulled the trigger and bought one off a popular internet auction site. Any way inspected the car and test drove it and checked all the things on it that the internet said were problem areas, everything great........ you know were this is going now don't you yep a week later clutch pedal on the floor.
Anyway before you ask I can't get the money back due to the fact it was not purchased in an auction.
Now I have no problem getting it fixed I love the car but I have taken it to 6 separate garages in Hull and they all laughed at me saying what a fool I have been for buying a rover 75 because everybody in the business knows that they have a major problem with there clutch slave cylinders.
One wanted to buy it off me for scrap(£100) I told him to jog on or words to that effect 4 of them said they would only do the job only if I had the master cylinder, flywheel and a new clutch and slave cylinder fitted giving me quotes anywhere from £1300 to £1800.
the last garage said that he wasn't really confident doing it and he thinks he can do it for £800 but I should budget for £1100 just in case an unexpected problems arise.
Now forgive me for being ignorant but the rover 75 is a relatively normal car isn't it.
I mean it's not made by McLaren or Ferrari is it.
I think they are taking the you know what out of me, I really really want to keep the car but I just can't get any realistic prices off anyone they all in my eyes anyway seem like they don't want the job, does anyone know of a garage in or around Hull that knows what they are doing and won't try to pull the wool over my eyes, at the moment I'm keeping the old girl going using a tip off here, using a one man bleed kit, if I bleed the system I can get 2 to 3 weeks use out of her before I have to do it again.
please help(rover 75 53 plate 1.8 turbo)
End of rant.

You can contact Andy Willi on here for a clutch repair for around £460 he is in Doncaster but will come to you or you can contact Trikey who is just over the bridge near you!

Don't forget the main man when it comes to trouble shooting and diagnostics, BigRuss in the Cleckheaton manor.

Hello there, I'm in Hull as well
For what it's worth I have only taken my 75 to MCC on Cleveland st, (they are not specialists but do a decent job), bought it Feb 2006 and only ever had it serviced and MOT'd there, never had any trouble and as far as I'm concerned only ever paid a fair price for any work done, might be worth you giving them a call, ask for Mark.
Wherever you take it, hope it all goes well.

Welcome to the club and happy motoring
