Why? Because there will be a lot of EV’s by the side of the road unable to move because there is not enough electricity to go round to charge your ‘green’ vehicle. Have a laugh while you can because it will happen. And as an aside, the French can be a bit ‘awkward’ at the best of times. And now after the ‘nuclear sub debacle’ for them, they will love us even more..
LOL, the interconnect that is down only supplies 2Gw anyway so it's loss is not about to create rolling blackouts anytime soon. Although we keep our EV topped up every day we could get away with no charge for 2 or 3 days, are you seriously saying that the loss of a small part of our supply is going to plunge our sleepy little corner of Norfolk into darkness for more then 3 days?

I'm actually more concerned about the transport issues at the moment affecting fuel supplies. I don't have to fill the other cars up that often due to doing most of the driving in the EV but the when I do I have noticed a lot of dry pumps in the petrol stations............

With the best will in the world, your continued apparently studied misinterpretations of posts are increasingly and obviously phoney! Misdirection always fails to hit the target! OK if funny, could try harder.

All,

Sorry, I've not been able to be on the forum for a few days due to IT network and computer printer link problems.[not an electricity failure issue!!]

I know the discussion has moved on, but I just wanted to clarify my earlier comment about used batteries. I should have said spent EV batteries when taken off cars. I did not mean our usual 12 volt batteries off IC vehicles!

I was talking to a mechanic friend the other day. He said he'd been working on a 4 year old hybrid vehicle. Nothing major, but he noted the high voltage orange cable covers under the car had been covered in road grime and could be mistaken for other cables with potential catastrophic results.

What voltage are the batteries on EV cars ??

Obviously the supply is 240 volts but surely the cables to the transformers would be kept as short as possible.--
