Water inside the door shut / sill plate

Afternoon all,

Recently purchased my 75 and very happy with it, from a very conscientious former owner.

One little thing I did notice was that whenever I've washed the car, everywhere else is completely dry but the rear passenger chrome sill plate is still wet, as though the water is trapped by the door seal, the seal itself is especially wet also at the front lower corner of the door, see here the area I mean:

Upon closer investigation I find there is also a bit of rust around the wiring plug into the door. Is this because more water than normal is going down there?:

Obviously I can treat and paint that bit of rust but is there anything else amiss here? The seals etc. around the door look OK to me:

Overall it just seems a bit odd that particular place under the door won't drain away and dry up. Door drain holes seem clear. Thanks in advance, any advice gratefully recieved.

I have seen that particular area rust on a couple of cars, I think it’s just moisture trapped around the rubber grommet of the wiring harness.

Thanks, suspected as much. Even a car in good condition is bound to have one or two little things after 20 years!

I've treated the rust with Jenolite and painted over with a dab of Hammerite on a fine brush so I think it's just a case of keep an eye on it, wipe over the area when the car's washed and check after heavy rain.

Thanks for the recommendation. I’m hoping the Jenolite will do the trick but I’ll keep a close eye for any recurrence.
