Default Sidelamp problem

Latest problem with my beloved 75: the offside sidelamp refuses to work.

The original bulb failed (I could tell it had failed by looking at it). I fitted a new bulb but it still refuses to light. In fact, I have tried three new bulbs and none of them works. I know the new bulbs are not faulty, because I have tried them in the other side, where they do work.

I considered the possibility that a fuse might have blown, but according to the manual, there is only one fuse for all the exterior lights (apart from the fog-lamps).

I have tried to clean the inside of the bulb-holder as best I can, although access is not as good as it might be.

The only other thing I can think of is a loose connection, but I can't find one. In any case, the fact remains that the original bulb was working perfectly until it failed.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

You have to consider what may have caused the bulb to fail, the curcuit could be open anywhere along the + or - side. If there was no + or - at the loom plug I would just run across from the N/S, I would spend no longer than 15 mins finding a single sidelight fault, it should extinguish the bulb fail indicator too I imagine.
