Collection only though - but near me if you want to arrange something?
Thanks for the offer Kevin.
I think I'll just buy one from Halfords.

No problem - their initial Ebay price was too high; I thought offer them a carpet and see what they say!

Hi David.
personally i would steer clear of the ones with the small cup, they will not fit on the front or rear jacking points.

Hello Kevin,
How much is a "Carpet"?
Don't have carpets in Newcastle!

Hello Steve,
Thanks for the advice.
Roughly what size of cup should I be looking for?
Regards David

£30 is a carpet or offer you could offer a pony - £25. My dads family from Deptford S.E London and he worked in a betting shop when he was young so all money amounts delivered in 'slang'.

My mums side of the family were miners from Hetton-le-hole so nearer you.

Example of a trolley jack beam but bear in mind the extra height meaning you will need a low profile jack

Are they the device that MOT testers use on their lifts to lift the front and back of the car to check the front and rear wheels?
If so can you buy them for trolley jacks?
David
The real description of the beam was eluding me at the draft stage. They might be called axel beams. Probably you'll see a photo of one at Machine Mart or C J Autos. And yes, in the middle of the beam will be an extrusion that is the same diameter of the trolley jack saddle shaft. ;-)

Not a huge amount of dosh!

Hi David.
Pm replied too the Halfords Advanced 3 Tonne Low Profile Trolley Jack would suit.
https://www.halfords.com/tools/garag...ck-657321.html

I have been looking at purchasing another trolley jack and the above would fit into what i am looking to get.

At the same time i like the SGS trolley jack which cost less than the Halfords one, in fact you could add the axle stands for the same price.

https://www.sgs-engineering.com/tj3l...5&tmcs=71v4ng2

Just the jack on it's own
https://www.sgs-engineering.com/tj3l...waAtQ7EALw_wcB

I will most likely go with the SGS jack i just need to read up on the warranty against Halfords warranty, so a little more reading to be done unless someone can point out a better quality jack at the same or less price of the ones above.

The lift is important so you do not have to keep adding wood under the wheels to gain your preferred height.
