Exclamation A/C Test

Well to follow on from my a/c clutch post, after testing everything, I realised that Halfords, who supposedly checked for leaks and regassed my aircon, didn't Just had a local aircon specialist round to test. he found a leak in my condensor bottom left corner. So, my job over the next couple of weeks, is to strip the front end down, replace the condensor, duly ordered from DMGRS then get him back to fill her up Isn't life fun

Good luck with the front end.

Just got mine off to check out/re brush/maybe alter the 3 speed fan.

Found no end of nicely seized fasteners of various sizes .

Hope so, over the years as I've taken stuff off, I've refitted all the fastenings either with stainless, and or copper greased them.
The bloke did say he's replacing more and more condensors on 3/4 year old cars Especially Fords Surprised by my 20 year old original. Quality old parts

I would not take any car to Halfrauds, they are a joke and a total rip off. There ''engineers'' are on a bonus system so its all about getting as much stuff through as possible with little or no care for the quality of the job they are doing.

Also never take there offer up for a ''free'' MOT. They will fail anything they can to get more work. A friend of my wife's took up there offer and she apparently needed 3 new tyres at some outrageous cost, when I checked they all had at least 3mm of tread.

Thank you Ron for a very helpful post. I try to ward people off using the fast-fit boys. They press a button on a machine but they've no understanding of how it works. The machine pulls a vacuum so they assume that the system is leak-free. This is not necessarily the case. I fell victim with my Citroën. Two days later all the gas had gone. A proper professional mobile specialist used low pressure nitrogen and found the major leak instantly which the vacuum test hadn't picked up.

I'm pleased that you found the best solution in the end.

Simon
