Default cd multi-cd player connectors

Hi.
I am about to change my multi-disc cd player in my 2002 MG ZT 190+ for one from a 2004 ZT, as the replacement has mp3 capability.
The multi-connector behind the glovebox on the orginal is rectangular, the replacement round, din? type, both have 8 pins.
Does anyone know whether the pins have exactly the same function between the two? in which case, I'll make up an adaptor.
Pictures 1 and 2 the replacement, and 3 and 4 are the original.

If your unit is a Harmony or a Symphony, they will not work with that changer because they use the K-Bus to communicate, not direct wiring.
