Resurrecting this thread as my screen was hit by a stone thrown up by a tipper truck which cracked the screen over on the lower near side. This was before Xmas & l haven't worried about it too much but after a downward progression, it's now started an upward journey so l suppose l should start looking for a replacement. No auto-wipers to worry about.
What are members current recommendations?

I was also on the point of resurrecting this thread.
Just passed my MOT but advisory for about the 5th year running is a stone chip which could not be repaired so would like to get new screen.
Thought about it last year but was put off when I read about wrong sized replacements in circulation.

I'm sure I read on here somewhere that Autoglass are supplying again, there was a warped batch of screens a while ago, but stock is ok again now.

The problem with older cars these companies don't order a new batch of screens until the last minute as there is less demand.

Believe it or not Autoglass actually carry windscreens for Jensen Interceptors and there cant be more than a couple of hundred of those left on the road.

So Autoglass are the company to go to so far. I'll likely have it done on my insurance.

Now If you had a Camera in the front of your car, if the brick/stone had been thrown up by the truck, you could have claimed from it.

No camera & it was a pretty small stone. It happens quite a lot with this car, not sure why & that time l thought, Blimey, one day it's going to crack. It wasn't until the light hit it that l saw that it HAD cracked.
Actually, the screen is well worn & has plenty of marks which sunlight shows up so it'll be nice to have a new screen. I don't want to spend fortunes though as with the impending ULEZ extension coming to London l will be selling the car.
