Default Rear screen wiper - making a clunking sound

In the last 2 weeks my rear screen wiper about half way through its travel makes a clunking sound with a very slight hesitation - is something seizing/failing in the wiper arm/motor?

Open the rear window and check if the wiper moves freely through the glass. I had something similar a few years ago when my wiper started to slow down whilst on a journey in the rain and within half an hour it had stopped and seized. I had a spare rear window so I swapped the spindles over but getting the seized one out took plenty of oil and twisting with a pair of mole grips. Don't forget the little o ring seal.

As Patrol man Pete says !
Also with your glass open latch the tail gate lock back closed and you can operate the rear wiper motor and check that the mechanism is operating smoothly
It doesn't operate with the latch open

As per previous replies the spindle is starting to seize up that drives the wiper arm easy enough to strip down and sort out

Cheers Dave that's a grand offer - i think i will take you up on that - I have a couple of spare screens with their arms so they could be utilised. Will PM you - just in the process of moving house though.

Mine had gone stiff, I squirted silicone lubricant in, job done.
