Thanks very much Simon, I know very little about it, so didnt see all that, I have now sent the new disc back and ordered the 2014/15 one hoping that will be a better update. Twice I went to Frimley and it took me on the motorway as it should but each time when i put in my home postcode to get back it took me some ridiculous route through the country instead of simply taking me back on the motorway the way I came. So it is a learning curve.

cheers Jennifer

I've just been checking my handbook. If you select Information followed by Route Selection you'll have these choices:
  • On main roads
  • On minor roads
  • Fastest route
  • Shortest route
"Minor roads" actually means "not motorways" so you'll be directed on 'A' roads whenever possible.
"Shortest route" is taken very literally so you're liable to be taken through housing estates. It's best avoided!

Frimley to your home is quite a tricky one. M3, M25 and A217 is straightforward but a bit of a loop! A331 south then A31 east which joins the A3 to M25 J10 cuts off a lot of miles and is fast dual carriageway all the way. To obtain directions for that requires a bit of lateral thinking. Did you know that you can enter Guildford as your destination and "A3" as the road? That will get you on the right route and you then keep going until you hit the M25!

Maybe I've confused you even more?

Simon

It’s worth noting that the Mark 4 “DVD” drive is now too at end of life, with 2019-2020 being the last update disc available.
