Default Crankshaft Pulley - Woodruff key?

Hi - just had a new Corteco crankshaft pulley fitted in my 1999 75CDT by my friendly mechanic but one query. There appears to be a slot in the pulley for something like a woodruff key to lock it in place. However friendly mechanic says he recalls no such key when dismantling but asked me to check on here (!). Given that the engine was used in other cars he says it may well be that no such key was used on the 75 and it relies purely on the compression force of the bolt.

Can any of the pulley experts confirm please?! Thanks.

The first few entries in the search response are general ones but if you scroll down a bit you'll come to the forum answers.
