If you mean this one
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...category=18262

Then nope I turned down one in similar condition for £10780

That one has a leaking Diff and when I went to look at it they had taken the battery out because it kept going flat. I had driven 120 miles there and they couldn't even be bothered to whip a battery out of another car so I could drive it (tempted to insert GGs little green man mods forum only smiley here)

They paid just over £11,000 for it. It also has two really bad scuffs on the rear bumper wheels are all scuffed front tyres bald it is number 284 of 883 so is relatively early MK2

It does have all the toys though but the tinted windows made it like a Hearse inside.

Well, that saves an expensive trip Keith, thanks!

It's a pipe dream for the moment though - plenty of little projects on the CDTi to keep me entertained

They probably have a battery on it by now but obviously that was no good when I went to view it.

I like the colour. I even would tolerate the blacked out windows. But the mother in law would freak out if we turned up in a car that looks alarmingly like a Hearse! She's surprisingly superstitious. Overall looks like a no-no then. Shame.

Still, I'm watching it on eBay...

What'd be a good price on a car like this Keith? From what you're saying 11 grand is closer to the mark?

The price is ok as a starting point provided it was all fully sorted paint done wheels refinished or replaced and came with a years warranty even then no one pays sticker prices so £12750 might be fairer

I was just working damned hard to get one as cheaply as possible
With hindsight I should have bought the one in Chester as it drove ok. I was just suspicious three owners in 20,000 miles and no service history.

Provenance is everything on these cars as they may well become seriously rare second-hand in a year or two and rare things develop their own value

An example most RV8s are still in the £12-£14k bracket and there were over three times as many of those made compared to 260s!

buying a 260 is not just an exercise in V8 growls it is a fingers crossed but maybe it will hold it price as well type of car, well at least at the price I paid anyway

Thanks Keith. I can keep dreaming. My wife is unlikely to go the V8 route, as we sold the KV6 powered V8 in favour of the diesel ZT to try and save on fuel costs!
