So just had a look , bumpers gone,no amount of polish will save that, bonnet was a bit difficult to open so might of pushed the slam panel back a bit , all lights intact but the top mounting on the slam panel has broken , indicator fog light and side light bulbs have popped
Number plate is shattered , and both rubber covers on the headlights have come off , got one cant find the other. All in all a lucky escape. Stan

Hopefully all the damaged parts are bolt-on, I’d have thought the alloy crossmember would show any structural damage up. Fingers crossed for you, my Granada was toasted by the same sort of impact but only because it was all welding work and hydraulic jacking to get it straight. Maybe a free wheel alignment check somewhere nearby would give you some assurance.

I just hope it wasn't Rudolf on a test run. So I am now looking out for a front bumper in trophy blue if possible and a drivers side mk1 projector headlight and mine is loose inside. Just goes to show how well these cars were built, thankfully Stan

At least you are safe. Cars can be rebuilt.

Oh my, that's some crack. I hope it was quick. Don't know who to sympathise with the most.

Ouch could have been a lot worse at least your ok and cars can be fixed.
The headlight maybe repairable I hit a seagul years ago in mine where light ended all loose inside but all it had done was popped off the ball socket inside so worth a check. I have my old zt sitting at side of the house with complete front on apart from lights if you require anything let me know it would only be going when the car got uplifted anyway the bumper isn’t perfect has a few scrape and scratches on it. Not nice, thank goodness it was a deer..One of the "unseen" perils of being a train driver not many people realise...even Mr Branson after the derailment of one of "his" Pendolinos in Cumbria a few years back [he praised the driver for trying to steer the train away from the problem...]
Hope you've got a better seat to cover the shock of collision compared with the 90 degree ironing boards for your passengers! |
