Heated seat connections
Hello all,
I've been having a very wierd issue with my drivers seat. One of the connections for the heated seat keeps getting disconnected I've tried to remedy this in a few ways cable ties and what not but always finds a way to disconnect itself. Now the wierd part of the issue is that since this started happening the seat heating stopped working I've checked the fuse and it's fine but also every time this little wire disconnects it triggers an airbag fault which makes no sense to me as to why would the heated seat wire would trigger it. I've included some photos of the connector just in case I'm wrong. Any ideas are welcome |

--Air bag.
However the loom would have been designed with enough slack in it to stop this happening.--Guess you need to trace the wires to find out where this slack has gone to.--- |

Thank you my main concern is why has the heating stopped working and why is this causing an airbag fault

Did you check the fuse by eye or did you check the circuit through it ??

That seems very bizarre. When you reconnect them, do they click together nicely (i.e. feel like they have pressed home) or do they just push together with no feel of locking? if the latter, it is possible that they just vibrate loose and I would put some insulating tape around the join to keep them together. I cant see how they could come apart without damage if properly clipped together.
Failing that, something must be happening to pull on one of the wires. Does this happen when the seat is moved? if so, get someone to move the seat whilst you look from underneath with a torch. The airbag connector is known to be a bit iffy and can lose its connection when the seat is moved and just needs a wiggle to reseat the pins - is it possible that when whatever it is puts a strain on the seat wire it also puts a strain on the airbag connector, or even the weight of the connector itself dropping down? |

Have the seats ever been out? Possible the wiring routing isn't correct.
I replaced the airbag and seat belt pre-tensioner connectors and also added about 6" of wire so seat movement can't affect then. |

The connector does click in nicely and also I rarely move the seat as I'm the only 1 driving now I think ive managed to secure it with a spaghetti of zip ties. What I still don't understand though is why this was causing an airbag fault tracing the wires they are not linked in anyway to the pretentioner or the occupancy sensor wiring and also my heated seat has stopped working of course
