Never experienced that on my 75 Mike, so I do t think the two are related.

Happens every now and then on mine, its no real bother the trip counter keeps recording and the miles travelled reappear every time without fail once the engine has been turned off and restarted.

I find the brake warnin g comes on more if the car has been stood for a while, I’ve always put it down to when the battery drops a little.

In all the years I've had mine it has only done it once, on a very cold first start, so thought the same as you Andy - battery voltage drop. Mrs Noc's 75 does it often though. I'll have to get the meter out and check the cranking voltage. It has had a new battery since we bought it mind.

Mine does it sometimes, 52,1.8T. I agree with above, turning ignition switch to start too quick.
I suspect you have to let some system boot up for a second or two before operating starter?
Had the car 12 years, neither got worse nor better! I don't worry about it.

I have just had a look on RAVE and in 'Repair tech data 0096' it states that the error is due to a software design issue, the fix is to replace the IPK with a later version.

if you do not rush to turn the ignition key and wait 2 seconds you will never get ERR , you have just rushed the start,

turn key to light up dash wait two seconds fire up, it will not come on. hope that helps, diesel 75 cars have to wait anyway for glow plugs, i always wait for that to go out then fire up
