It really is a sad state of affairs when nothing out there grabs you & say's 'buy me' - I feel just the same.

But it does seem that everything has problems nowadays, often linked to items that are supposed to make them greener, but actually only serve to speed up their eventual arrival at the scrap yard

Stick with what you've got, their faults are well documented, can all be solved, parts are cheap and mostly quite plentiful - the 75 & ZT really is the best kept secret

The new MG ZS looks quite smart, as well as the new Ford Puma. Both are a decent size (not too big or compact) and you get a lot of technology and assistance.

You could enquire about prices to repair the 75 if you don’t want to replace and don’t know what to replace it with yet. It might cost X amount to repair but it’ll be much cheaper than a new car, as well as being more enjoyable if you’re passionate about it. If not, don’t scrap it, I’m sure someone will want to repair it!

Personally I've planned in advance. Majority of modern cars are absolute garbage, no character and as much driving appeal as a dentist chair on wheels.

I'm aiming to be driving 75s as my daily for rest of my life, nothing like them.

I've got a few low millage versions (80k) and by time they are worn I will have my other versions restored and ready to daily.

Absolutely determined to be driving them until I can't drive any more.

When my last 75 was written off I never considered anything else, started looking at 75's immediately. The reasons I got one in the first place was that they were cheap, economical, comfortable and repairs don't cost the earth. Nothing's changed. Only reason I'd change is health, it's getting a little harder to get in and out. (don't say a word Paul)

I dont think i'll be putting mine through another MOT as it will need quite a bit of work doing (both front bearings, exhaust, roll bar bushes, rear disks and pads) so will be looking to buy something else in the summer.

The modern cars ive been reading up on (Mondeo, Insignia, Focus, Astra, Citroen DS4) all seem to be plagued with problems
How much money do you think you will save by replacing your 75 with something else?

I am a bit at a loss when people say how much it will be to repair their car and then look to spend more money on something else. I understand you can spend more repairing then the value of the vehicle but if money is the issue, it may still be cheaper then replacing

I had a good look at other cars a couple years ago when I was no longer going to use the typhoon as a daily. Plenty of nice cars out there but common faults and the cost of repairs on newer cars just put me off. So bought redfive.

But if I had to move onto something else I'd probably go for a Jag XF or xj350.
Whilst a lovely car to drive, the XF seems to have more reliability issues than its fair share (Source Auto Express), so I am hanging on to my X308s (along with the 75s/ZTs of course!

Yes th Toyota is a good car. I asked my garage what car should i buy next.. He said any model with taxi written on th side (Taxi drivers want a good all round reliable thing so not a bad answer).. He said all new cars are mares in one way or another. But if pushed he reckoned Audi are ok ish... So buy a Seat (cheap Audi VW) Wont tour th same but how many peeps tour these covid days.??? .
