Hi folks,

I bought a sensor from Rimmer Bros (cheaper one) about a year and a half ago for my front left. It was a complete failure - so much so that I put the original back in to make the car drivable again. The original - or the one that was there when I bought the car - had been failing intermittently for a year. It got to the point it would fail on the first startup of the day, but then be perfect the rest of the day. When it was failed the cruise control wouldn't work. When it was functioning, so did the cruise control. The hub was cleaned as well during replacement. Now it is at the point it has failed and will not come back online at all.

So, which is the sensor to buy that is sure to work and is never DOA out of the package? I want to buy from Matt (DMGRS) as Rimmer return policy is only suitable for UK residents, really.

Replaced the sensor & bearing and cleaned all of the rust. Finally a clear dash

Too expensive to return anything, so I don't like taking chances either.

Not sure about front sensors, but I've bought a couple of rear ones from DMGRS to go on the shelf, described as real originals, can't get better than that.

Yes, it was the rear left side.

I ordered my parts from autodoc. I don’t live in the UK and ordering things has become a bit more expensive due to brexit probably.

The sensor was from Delphi and the bearing from Stark automotive. So far it’s good.

The car has also gotten new control arms, inner/outer tie rods, rear springs , also from autodoc, so far it’s good quality

Considerably more expensive. I wanted to order a used door handle for my daughter's ZS180 from UK. Handle cost £9, but thanks to ebay and their "exclusive" Global Shipping Program, postage/import duties was £19! Found one in Lithuania instead.

From what I understand, all international orders go through this horrible program unless the seller opts out. It's killing the UK ebay market for us abroad. Even Thomas Hobbs' ebay ads include this rip off. Luckily I've ordered from him directly. And items which previously might have taken a week to arrive, now it's more like three weeks.

I understand that sellers don't want to deal with customs etc but it's just a sticker to add, did it myself today on a parcel to Norway, and of course with the abbreviation NCV

Any ebay sellers should immediately opt out of this if they want their goods to remain attractive to overseas customers.

Yes, the Global Shipping Program is simply theft from buyers. Most of the USA sellers use it, too, and that's where most of our stuff comes from - or China and I won't knowingly buy from China. I message the eBay sellers before I bid/buy to see if they will send by USPS instead. If yes, I buy. If not, I don't. I did message to Mat. Hoping his OEM quality front sensors are actually the same as OEM.

Tried that - messaged ebay seller pointing out the additional, ridiculous cost and asked very nicely, if he'd pop it in a Jiffy bag and post it. Got a short and unhelpful reply that all international orders go through the Global Shipping Program.

I've been through this all before in the pre-internet days. Seemed all so much easier then - eg. used to phone a Rover specialist in Scotland, Rab, some will know the name. Never had to give credit card details as he kept it in a drawer somewhere, no problem sticking an acceptable value on the label. Now transactions are anonymous, there's no relationship anymore. And ebay is ripping off buyers and sellers alike, hopeless until they wake up and opt out of this program.
