New IPK screen from China
Bought a new IPK screen from China about 2 weeks ago. Arrived within about 10 days, now installed and working nicely. Will post pics soon. AUD$120 inc. shipping to Sydney.

Thanks due to Ricksta's efforts if I understand correctly. Got one myself & very nice to have a line-free new display, Rick installed mine, who did yours?

Well done John
Well done John.
I am afraid that I am not as confident as you. A local business bought out the local VDO business some time ago (VDO were the supplier to MG Rover). A member of our local club used this firm to transplant a new message centre (ex. Rimmers sale) into his car. I put my replacement plans in abeyance after an industrial repair specialist (CRT/LCD/CNC etc) told me that I ought to use a LCD bonding machine. I now have one of Rick’s “new and improved” unit, and intend visiting this firm to replace my present lined message centre. I do have some new ex. China LCD screens and when I have some spare time, I may have a play with them on an old discarded IPK. |

No reflection on Rick's sourcing of these new units, but at least visually, mine is not as good as the one it replaced. The old display was cleaner looking with no 'phantom' lines common in passive displays. The replacement has got rid of the lines caused by connection faults in the unit but the 'phantom' lines are noticeable, particularly when the display is cold. It's just an observation nothing more. Maybe the original used active displays? In any case, I'm glad I can actually see the information again!
