Hi Rich,

My Chinese meal contribution is:

Sweet & sour pork
Shredded beef - Char Sui?

Looks lovely whatever it actually was.

And on the subject of food the next wedding chocolate cake practise is due today. So it's going to be a great day as this one is going to have black cherries and Chambord Black Raspberry liqueur in it.

I know you'll all share my misery at having to taste test it .
I’m more of an Indian food fan than Chinese, I like deep fried crispy chicken ku bo, minus onions and bamboo shoots but plus fried rice.

I prefer making my own curries etc, least you can control what's in them and you know its not loaded with monosodium glutamate. Very occasionally have a Chinese (very limited "menu" that I like), not a fan of Indian. Main thing I'm not keen on with takeaways is they always have hulking great lumps of onion, I'm ok with the flavour contribution from onion but finely chopped, not huge great divots of it.

I'm supposed to be weeding the front garden but the French Moto GP meeting is being shown live on ITV4

Just called a (temporary?) halt to garden operations, temperature dropped noticeably, wind rising and clouds building. Having some lunch and see what develops.

Now Jessica wants to go away again. Decisions: Drive up north to the Samburu region or drive down south to a beach house with daily temperatures of 31C and warm ocean waters.

I have been telling Jessica the highlights of the lounge discussions: food, weather, arthritis....no one mentioned football.

What’s everyone up to?

Afternoon Phil, sounds like a great safari trip up to Kilimanjaro Nowt so grand here, I've been doing some more gardening/mowing the lawns whilst the weather is kind, Made a dish of corned beef hash for tea & washed the Rover because every cat in the neighbourhood had left mucky paw prints all over it with with leaving the garage doors open and put some fresh petrol in the thing.

I'd rather you kept Jeff's bristols out of the conversation. I'm getting some very disturbing images

Which is why I always ask for everything without onions, we have several recipes that I like but they come with onions, Fiona doesn’t mind them but Fran doesn’t like huge chunks of them either, each time I cook if there are onions in the recipe I have to get one of them to chop it as I can’t stand them ,my eyes start to run the minute I put a knife in the onion and I can’t see what I’m doing.I do like home made onion gravy though.

I find chopping onions etc a pain in the butt! Doesn't really affect my eyes, just tedious! What I do is I have a mini blender, its about the size of a large mug. Very roughly chop an onion, garlic if required, throw them in the mini blender and blitz for a few seconds. Comes out in pieces no more than a couple of millimetres square.
