Midges are annoying but Clegs, Horseflies are something else. They are plain vicious, bite like a Rottweiler. Encountered them a few times when fishing up the north west of Scotland.

Yes!! A couple of biker mates did a tour of the NW, that's all they said about the whole trip, got eaten alive by the bl00dy things.

A drip loop or lack of isn't the problem Richard with what I had in mind. With the air-gap type of dielectric insulator rainwater can find its way into a TV/device via the gaps that run through the entire length of the cable's dielectric insulator. Had a couple of incidents of this with relatives TV's, one where the sealing cover for the connection box on the aerial was missing letting rainwater in.

Cool

Morning everyone.

Back up to Matt’s this morning to get the rest of the jobs done, then it will be the Bear’s turn.

Got my 12th Covid-19 test before I go.

Not sure what the dielectric insulator is? But the connector box on aerial is intact and the cover intact with a tight seal.

It's the white (if solid) or clear if air spaced plastic that goes around the outside of the centre conductor Richard.
If air spaced then moisture can travel the whole way downtime inside of the cable and into the tv socket. This usually happens when the plastic cover on the aerial comes off/cracks etc. Not the case for you obviously.
Usually happens over a long period. When you re did the connection with the new cable on the aerial it would have likely been obvious. The connections on the aerial would be badly weathered and the old cable gone a nice shade of verdigris
