Since the mot is due on the 2.5 KV6 soon, I decided to adjust the handbrake. Took me about half an hour to complete with the car supported up in the air. I always do it with both wheels off the floor when adjusting . It’s the only way to get both sides properly adjusted.

Took her to MGR John for several Project Drive retrofits and a couple of odds and ends, also a chat re the isolated gearbox issue of a few days ago.

The gearbox is as smooth as ever, but if the fault pops up again after a longish run John will have it back for a full investigation.

The pick of the Project Drive retrofits was the fitting of a real wood dash. Compared with the plastic version, its stunning and in another world, unmarked and sporting a lovely deep gloss.

Also done were the rear head restraints with piping, which were off the same car that donated a front wing last year, wiring of the illuminated sun visors, leather gear knob and drivers side front grab handle,

Other non Project Drive items supplied included a battery box cover, bonnet insulation liner, 4 roof trim grommets as well as a PAS fluid top up.

So hopefully that's it for the time being. Barring the unexpected, her next date with John will be in early November for an oil service and MOT.

I'll post a couple of pics of the retrofits tomorrow.

A little more on the Dorchester today, replaced four door finishers, swapped the scuttle panel for a better one and threw in a pollen filter while the scuttle was off.

Yesterday, Oxford to The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre then across to Belper. Today to The Great British Car Journey then Cromford and back home.

Some great places to visit.
Almost 400 miles at 33 mpg :¬) The old girl just loves motorways
Glad I wasn't northbound on the M40 - grim.

Finally, saw more Ferraris (2) than 75 Mk1s on the road. Saw one Mk2 near Sleaford in probably 7 hours of motoring. There was another in the museum.
We are definitely getting rarer.

Fitted the Black Oak dash set I bought in place of the technical grey. I do need to dremel out the blank switch piece to suit my 4 button needs so it’s still silver for now.

Default New gearbox mount

In my ongoing attempts to cure mysterious vibration I decided to change out the front gearbox mount. Probably was doing something wrong because the mount bolts wouldn't come out without undoing the gearbox bracket and then I couldn't move the gearbox bracket back far enough as it fouled on the starter motor (2.5 V6). Then the bolt that goes through the middle of the mount fouled on the airbox mount and I couldn't pull it clear.
Anyway, after disassembling half the engine bay I managed to sort it but what a painful job...

Handbrake shoes, rear pads and discs for Actros, then a quick auto box fluid top up on Dorchester.
