Crank Shaft Pulley aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!
Hi Guys, I am really really struggling with this crank shaft pulley.
I have removed the engine from the car and I am having a horrible time trying to remove the crank shaft pulley. I am using a screw driver to jam the fly wheel in the special hole at the back of it, I am using a very big bar and I have attempted using a scaffold bar with this for extra leverage but it just wont budge! Some one advised me to open this bolt clock wise also........ what is the correct way of taking this off. I have done this before but never had any problems but I cant remember which way I opened it. Most likely anti clockwise! |

hi you use exactly the same technique as me, anti clockwise to loosen it.

I think this subject was discussed a few weeks ago and the general view was that an air impact tool was the most practical way.

You need to lock the flywheel solidly - buy the correct tool and bolt it in after removing the starter motor.

hi a good quality windy gun should loosen it, if you have engine out drop box off take the
pressure plate off, put two bolts back in the flywheel and lock it with a pry bar, probably better if you had a helper |

took mine off the other week, used an impact drill to take mine off, only took a few minutes. Used a flywheel locking tool to tighten it back up.

I use a powerbar wedged to the ground then flick the starter motor. Naughty i know but works everytime. Obviously no good with engine out though. Impact gun seems best option

There is a flywheel locking tool available, see if anyone in your area has one you can borrow,I know someone who has but he's based near me,which is a bit too far away for you.
