Not doubting you, but how does the abs sensor affect the fuel gauge?

Ignore the gauge and do a brim-to-brim calculation on a full tank of fuel. Also, start walking the 800 yards to work. It will make you healthier, reduce wear and tear on your engine (and battery) and lower your fuel expenses. Simon

My gauge never goes above 3/4 even when brimmed and never goes below a 1/4 even when the light comes on. It’s been doing this since I bought the car 18 months and 9000 miles ago. I now just go on miles driven to know when it’s getting low. When I get to 450 miles, I fill it up again. Still I would love to know why it doesn’t go above or below the marks mentioned. It was suggested that the float could have gotten tangled up if it has been removed at some point.

check your float arm on the in tank fuel pump it can come unclipped from the fuel pump assembly the filter can also come detached which can cause some issues my fuel gauge did what you are describing before my fuel pumps both broke on my CDTI 75, when I took the in tank fuel pump out my filter was in the bottom of the fuel tank and the float arm was unclipped once I put everything back in fuel gauge works fine now just take it out have a look you never know it could be a simple fix.

i took out the fuel pump assembly behind the drivers seat and replaced fuel pump clicked in float arm and reinstalled filter on bottom of fuel pump assembly and it seem to sort out my fuel gauge problems before it used to go up and down constantly very annoying while driving the main thing is to make sure you are careful when you reinstall pump assembly and float arm .
