V6 Coolant loss - No More!

Hi all,

Some time back, I started a thread about coolant loss on my 2.5 V6 and, at the time, had just had my oil cooler changed as a precaution, as the garage could find no reason for this loss.

After this, the problem still persisted, so I took the bold step of having the heads off during the 90K service. Again, no concrete reason was discovered for the loss or, the oil contamination.

However, since that service/repair, I have covreed 1500 miles and I have not had to add one drop of water.

The parts list from the service was extensive and somewhere in that list is the replacement for a faulty item. But which? Was it the skim? Was it the heads?

Whatever it was, it was money well spent and I am happy with the outcome.

I had the same problem until recently.

In the end I had my local dealer take the heads off and replace the gaskets during the 90K service. They could not find a specific reason for the coolant loss or the cause of the oil becoming contaminated however, with the heads skimmed, the water pump and thermostat replaced, etc. (see parts list below) all is now well after 2000 miles.
