Cool Starting your Car and moving of.

Does anyone else do the following .Start car sit patiently to warm up to around 20/30 degrees then pull away.I do not exceed 50 to 60 mph untill temp is around 70 degrees and i will not drive hard untill engine is at running temp.

So i do this everytime is this extreme or even not enough ?

I also put an engine blanket on her every night until warmer eves are back the better half thinks im bonkers...

Start it up, clean the windows, wait for the kids to come out and drive off.

I'm not as bad as you but I never hammer a cold engine. One thing I always do is sit with the key in position II and let the car go through its self checking before starting unlike those who just rattle the key round to the start position.

I never exceed 2000 RPM until the engine warms up, in this cold weather it can be a right pain though as the autobox stays in a lower gear until the engine warms up.

Just lucky that all my local roads have a max 50MPH speed limit.

Push the remote to the FBH, sit indoors have a coffee, then get in the car nice and warm and take a gentle drive to the garage.

Coffee is very very important, a car is only as good as the operator, wake up and enjoy your drive 😃

Myself----10 seconds for the oil to get round then drive off not using more than 2,000rpm until the engine temperature gauge has reached 9'o-clock position.--------

I start Alison up, let her run for 2 minutes and drive at moderate engine speeds until she is up to temperature. She takes ages to warm up, so I'm glad she has an electric auxiliary heater!

I get in and drive immediately unless it is frosty and I have to scrape it off or wait for it to melt with the heaters on. I too, also put it into position 2 and wait for the glow plug light to go off and let the pumps prime for a little while.
