I quite fancied a petrol for a while as they are a decent sized car with the 1.8 turbo, I believe the diesel is the one to avoid as the engine was only used in this car so some parts are hard or impossible to find. I believe flywheels are non existent. Thomas ran one for a while so he might comment on his experiences. The top spec petrol variant as a very nice looking car.

Diesel flywheels do exist but they don't last and are very expensive.
The 1.9 engine is brilliant and the 6 speed box is so long geared it's wonderful on the motorway. And it's used in another vehicle in China made by saic. Edit Maxis G10 I plan to get a 1.8t quite soon. Its a tradigy they didn't do the auto option in the UK on petrol never mind auto diesel.

A bit of a mixture, in my experience... I enjoy driving the one I borrow when getting the Rover fixed (so I've driven it a lot ).
It's quicker than the Rover, tighter handling, and I find it comfortable. The trim is pretty hideous - but they are cheap. The owner reckons you might have to wait a few days for parts, but has always managed to get anything he needs. The reason I originally got the 75 (against everybody's advice) was that you got so much car for your money. Guess the same applies here Colin - Mark's just bought a 2nd one for the wife, so I guess he likes them OK

Oh I know, driven both. Different from mk1 to mk2 is huge, loads of improvements but sadly the dash just let's them down for me so badly.

Yeah the dash isn't good. But I guess if you got one for £4k with only 40k on the clock you could live with it
