Default Battery died - any thought on a new one?

Had the car over three years now - and the battery wasn’t looking anything like new when I bought it - it played up a bit in cold weather last year and by nursing it I have had another year out of it - but this afternoon - after standing for the weekend just now all I got was the dreaded click click click.

So new battery!

Any recommendations?

I seem to remember some posts about batteries being listed as a fit for the cdti but they were actually too tall.

But I can’t find the thread now.

Any thoughts suggestions recommendations much appreciated

096 I believe is the correct type, however my scrapped 75 had a 100 I think it was, which although would sit in the battery box, was longer so covered the bolt hole for the strap & clamp. Of course, inside the battery box and with the lid on it ain't going anywhere so it passed the MOT like that.

Personally I go for Varta batteries.
Bit more expensive than Lion, but better value over the long run. (Think Varta actually make batteries for Bosch and are half the price...)

I paid £67.99+ VAT last week for a Bosch S4 007 at Costco.

It replaced a Lion brand 096 which was according to the invoice two years old.

Physically the casing size was the same, but the Bosch battery weighed about a third heavier than the Lion battery.

I have fitted these to both my wife's and dad's cars, and their driving amounts to stop start.
SWMBO sets off for work at 6AM in the dark, lights heated seats and HRW and comes home after 4PM in the dark also.

She drives two and a half miles to the park and ride, then the same on the way home, plus a trip to the shops on Saturday, basically all the wrong things to do to a car battery.

Fitted four years ago to replace the Rover original, not once has it required charging, nor failed to start the car.

A case of buy cheap buy twice applies in this case, or get the same battery cheaper HERE
