Just changed mine and just got disc's, caliper's and carriers, was no need to get longer brake lines., unions the same. Make a massive difference to the braking power..

Default re 190 brakes

Hi,
sorry to resurrect an old topic, but, I am looking at putting the 190 brakes on my cdti. Someone told me I need the hoses ( said they are longer on the 190 set up) and also that I would have to change the master cylinder because the bigger calipers would blow the standard cdti one?

As you have done the conversion, can you tell me if there are any issues with the hoses and / or master cylinder please?

So, I would need the 190 calipers and carriers, 325mm discs and appropriate pads. Is there anything else I'd need, i.e the carrier mounting bolts?

Thanks in advance.

The 190 hoses are not longer, but shorter, by a few mm, as the callipers are larger, therefore the hoses are shorter, but you can get away without having to change the hoses. and the carrier mounting bolts are the same, but definitely worth looking at the condition of the calliper carrier bolts, make sure they are clean, and use a good white grease on them, and lastly you will need a 7mm allen key to under sliders

when i did mine i did it without the 190 master (i may still have it here if you need one), i replaced the callipers and fitted new piston and guide pin kits, hoses (braided in my case) and drilled discs with green stuff pads... it stopped on a sixpence even without the 190 master...
i did replace all of the carrier bolts from rimmers (IIRC the front and rear are different lengths).

well worth doing...

Don't forget if you change to the 190 master cylinder then you will need the 190 servo as well....

I done the diesel I had and run for two years I changed the hoses but not the master it’s a waste of time changing to the 190 master. You won’t be disappointed mine stopped so quick it prevented a few accidents
