Its good that she's going straight into a home and that its not far away. After what the old boy next door went through with his wife I would not recommend anyone look after a relative with dementia once it progresses, its a horrible thing. Before she went into care he looked after her at home but it got to the point where she wouldn't let him do anything for her, she'd shout and swear at him, even throw things at him. The only person she was happy to do things for her was their other neighbour's daughter. Once she went into a care home the old boy visited her every day or every other day, about 15 mins away in the bus. He didn't like speaking about her, never said much other than she was happy in the home.

[QUOTE=Gate Keeper;2880251
Getting back to your mum Richard, how do you feel about her discharge plans?[/QUOTE] I am happy enough Phil, she is going to one of the homes I requested for her. Pre Fiona was taking groups of kids from the school into the care homes as part of some project of connecting old people and children and for the kids to hear their stories of old times, so she has been there before along with the other larger home in the village and said the staff were always pleasant. Mum won’t really know the difference between there and hospital as she is unable to distinguish her surroundings. She doesn’t know the building she is in is hospital

Sadly lost a wee Coal T1t this morning. It flew into the kitchen, went to "liberate" it which I've done many times (get small birds flying into the kitchen quite often!) and noticed it wasn't flying right and not steady on its feet when it landed then it fell into a basin of cold water in the sink! Plucked it out and tried to dry it a bit and keep it warm in my hand but it slipped away I noticed it was missing a lot of feathers so dunno if something had a go at it before it flew into the kitchen. Certainly more than once I've seen one of the many Magpies around here trying to catch smaller birds around the feeders.

Evening all,, It stopped raining for about an hour this afternoon but that was the only respite we got out of about 16 hours of it , Just been watching a lot of blue t1ts & sparrows on the suet logs, they've demolished that in a couple of days.
