Default Purchased this wonderful double sided illuminated rover dealer sign

I purchased this lovely Rover dealer sign recently for my ramp workshop, it’s quite large at 4ft x 1.5ft and double sided with illumination, I can’t remember exactly when they were on display, but from memory I think it was mid nineties at my local dealer, I remember these red ones being quite rare. It took me a long time to find this one and I paid a lot for it.

If anyone can remember when they saw one last in a dealership I would appreciate it if they could let me know what era it was.

Yeah I would love to get that sign Ian, but unfortunately the seller won’t post it and I’m so busy with work at the moment in the workshop but I just haven’t got the time to go out to Stowmarket, unless someone is near who could pick it up for me and such like.

I'd say your Rover sign is from the late 70's or early 80's - I can imagine it hanging over an SD1 in a showroom or at a motorshow

I'm pretty sure the typeface was slightly different in the 90's and everything was burgandy (not red)

evining Sir, I remember the dealer in Kilmarnock had one of these up on the Launch night party for the 75. The Dealer in Glasgow had one up from around late 1992 through till Arnold Clark Bought them over, sad to see a family run buisness being bought out by the Scottish Giant of the motor trade.
Hope this is of some help
Alan

John says the dealer in Lochwinoch had a couple hanging up in the show room, back as early as 1982, He is usualy right about these kind of things.

I think I might have the late forecourt flag in a box in the attic do you want me to have a look, it would be one of the ones that hung down rather than the ones that ran up the flag pole.

My local Rover dealer (Kingsbury Motors) had these when I was running Montegos in the late 80s/ early90s.

Yes I would be very interested, if you wanted to sell it I’d be certainly interested too
