Default Pensioners = Jonny speed pants!

Pensioners have more penalty points on their licences than young drivers https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/car...-young-drivers

The sticker in my rear window says " Not speeding - merely qualifying ", but it has been there for a number of years - as a pensioner I can't afford the fines these days!

Data is not there as to why the points are in place. Was it 40 in a 30 zone for pensioners and 70 in a 30 zone for younger drivers for instance?

My father was an ex Police traffic driver trained in pursuits etc and drove that way the rest of his life. Only ever had one speeding ticket . . . . that I knew of.

Cool

“Elderly Driver. Please be patient” is the plaque in the rear window of my MG ZTT V8 400. I’m very wary of the power that this car produces, so I stick to the speed limits. But pulling away from the lights can be fun.

They'll be putting the insurance premiums up next for pensioners as they will be in the high risk group.

Both my son in law and daughter are blue light trained.
I hate his driving. He may be good on a blue light run but normal driving, scary and I don't mean fast. Speed does not scare me, it excites me.

130 on an open road is "fine" 40 and tailgating is not.

I've never had a speeding ticket (probably jinxed it now) but I have had a letter from the "community speed awareness team" or whatever they're called, and it was in my classic Mini, 37 mph in a 30, didn't realise it would go that fast..... 🤭

I know but visiting the petrol station gets me out of the house.
