Personalised(ish) reg plates
Hi all, hopefully someone can help me here. I'm not after anything actually personalised, but I'd like to get a historic (1960's era) reg to go on my Enfield. I've looked before and found a site I could just browse reg's of the correct format, starting from around £100. I thought it was the DVLA website but when I go on there it just comes up with a page to search for a specific reg. And if I put in something in the format I'm after, it doesn't come up with anything.
If it was to be at all personalised something with RE, GT, CON, or 535 would be ok. Anyone got any tips? |

There is a pukka DVLA site. However the DVLA only sells registrations that have never been issued to a vehicle which may limit the options.

Plenty of registration traders in the UK, just search 'cherished registrations' and 'personalised registrations' you'll have plenty to choose from.

No, DVLA only sells registrations that have never been issued or sold before. If a registration has been on a vehicle in the past, and even if that vehicle has been scrapped, that registration will not be available to purchase from DVLA. |

Problem with all the sites I've found is they want me to search for a specific reg. I don't especially care what the letters and numbers are, as long as the reg is from the late 50's/early 60's. I just want to browse a list of suitable regs, by price (cheap as possible).

Remember the DVLA site includes the £80 transfer fee and VAT IIRC, others do not so a £200 plate ends up costing well over 300. DVLA appear to start at £399 all in.

Personalised(ish) reg plates
Be aware that a few number plate traders charge over the odds, then just purchase ‘your’ plate from the DVLA then add their fees.
Go with the DVLA would be my advice.

Thanks, but the cheapest I've found on DVLA is £250, and is dateless. I'd prefer the Suffix style, which I've managed to find on a site called plates4less, for £135 inc fees. It's purely for aesthetics, so I can put a black and silver plate on it with period reg, for photos.
Anything involving 535 or GT (obviously as it's such a common 'special') add too much on to the price. |
