As Brian wrote,so called OEM's are poor quality.Label on box nicely says MG Rover Made in China.
Not bad looking but it was very loose fit to wishbone. Felt like 13mm socket on 12mm nut... This happened about half year ago. Now,last week needed to replace other side and ordered aftermarket part from local parts store. Part was supplied by German FAG,but didn't find where it is actually manufactured.
Fit to wishbone was tight enough.,no complains so far.

I had two new front tyres fitted today. While I was there I asked for a quote to fit the arms and bushes.

The labour charge if I supplied the parts was----259 Euros.

To supply and fit was 480 Euros.------

Just been out in the garage sorting out the required tools.----

If that was just a quote for fitting and the labour charge in England is quite high I guess it's not too far removed from the fitting charge here in France.

Perhaps three times £75.00----

Fortunately, I get mates rates, more like £50/hr incl. VAT. However, they discovered more wrong with the Rover than I did, so expecting a big bill. On top of what I have already spent on the car in the last year, this years repair bills on 12,000 miles motoring are approaching what I paid for the car with 12months MoT! And I'll still need at least 2 new tyres in the next 3 months - especially for winter weather.

Above is the reply I got from the German suppliers of the suspension arms and bushes.

Their stock list only showed the RH bush and holder.

I asked did they have the LH side as I required that as well.

The post above was the reply to my question.------

Good news - total MoT bill £248. Including new wipers, tyre and rear drop link. The one I fitted before last November's MoT had broken since I fitted the new upper arm and spring! Biggest item was 2 hours labour on diagnosing, finding and replacing the airbag sensor, requiring removal of seat and cutting carpet. Nice to be wafting again!

Completely unnecessary, why on earth didn't you give me a shout Andrew

I could have saved you two hours labour, and further to that you could have had it fixed while you wait, without resorting to butchery of the shag pile

He said he'd cut the carpet around the defective part to prevent its replacement suffering the same damp demise. I haven't looked under the seat to see what exactly he has done. Other bad news - they had forgotten to include the cost of the test on the bill, so add £35 to the above figure. Brian, once I have got my old faithful Mitsubishi Delica through its MoT, I'll be contacting you about a T4 remap on the 75. I'd bring the car to you for everything, but the logistics of it might prove impractical! I wasn't expecting to find the airbag light was due to a failed part, rather I expected him to find and fix a poor connection. They have only charged me £54 incl VAT for a new tyre to match the one I paid £75 for last year at the same tyre centre, so it's swings and roundabouts. It's nice to know my hard work on the suspension now leaves the car with only advisories for 3 tyres and a slight oil leak (crank front seal).
