Subwoofer installation question
I intend to install a subwoofer into my boot, I'm using a Navall Star as a head unit.
I believe that I need to connect it to my battery so two questions. Why does it need connected to my battery and what's the best way of doing so and laying the wires? |

It's not the subwoofer that connects to the battery but the amplifier that is either separate in a passive sub and amp or active when the amp is part of the subwoofer. Amps require a lot of power which is why they generally need a positive connection directly to the battery with a good quality cable of the correct rating to the amp. The same size/rated cable should be used to ground the amp to a good earth point on the car. Then you will need a remote wire (which tells the amp to switch on and off with the head unit) from amp to head unit and an RCA phono cable from amp to subwoofer out of head unit to carry the audio signal. If you use a passive sub and separate amp you will also need speaker wire between the two Edit.....missed your other question. Run the power cable and remote wire under the drivers side kick plates and under the pedal box there should be a grommit which allows power cable to pass into engine bay . Remote wire run under steering wheel to head unit. Run the phono cable under the opposite side kick plates and through fuse box to head unit . Hope that helps,
