Wheel sizes?
My Conny SE CDTI currently has 15" Alloys. I am contemplating going for a larger set I.e. 16, 17 or 18 inch.
What would I have to change with them, brakes? Hub? Tachometer/ odometer etc etc. I appreciate there will be an increase in price for the tyres and the spare. Any comments useful for guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Grant,
When changing the wheel size you do not have to do anything with the brakes, hubs, tachometer/ odometer etc. With the tyre fitted, the 15, 16 and 17 inch have a very similar overall diameter. The only exception in the 18inch wheels which have a slightly bigger diameter and should have a T4 adjustment to compensate for speedo. error. You basically get more metal and less rubber the larger the wheel diameter. This is why Connoisseur versions. such as yours. were fitted with 15 inch wheels as standard, as it gives the most comfortable ride, gliding along with all that rubber. Regarding increase in tyre prices, it also comes down to how common the size is. The 215/55 R16s are quite an expensive size and would be more than 15 or 17 inch tyres. 16 inch tyres can cost half as much again, or even twice the price of 15 inch ones.

Only thing to bear in mind is as the rim size increases the tyre profile (sidewall depth) decreases and will have an effect on ride quality. If you like wafting along I wouldn't advise going up to 18s.
