You don't give much information but here are a few things to consider:

Has the DVD been written/burned correctly (meaning low speed)?
Does the DVD play on your computer?

What codec is used for video?
What unit is it?

In general: these units are ill equipped for the more modern codecs in use nowadays (HEVC, AV1 and such) because they are almost all based on old Android versions which have been adapted as little as possible to meet "time to market"

You could consider resampling the DVD to an older codec or you could have a look if it is possible to stream the (ripped) DVD from your (hopefully) modern phone.
