No prob since and yes,i have a diesel

Effectively what a pity ;

i guess you keep a bad souvenir of the Provence ;some speedbumps are severe !

It happens to me after the clutch repairing .The aircon pulley rubbing against
the pipe ...i still don't know why ?
In doubt ,i improved the security with cable ties

May be the same to you ? worth having a check...

Thank you for that Mike - I will show to my mechanic when he gets the car up on the ramp.

Hi I am new to the forum. My Rover 75 diesel 2005 model is leaking power steering fluid from the low pressure return hose. The power steering fluid is running down the hose from where it meets the underside, bottom of the reservoir. I’m assuming that the clip was old and just needs a new jubilee clip and no more leaks . WRONG !!! After putting on new clip , still leaking!!! Some one passing by as I was trying to fix this problem said he worked for BMW at one time and thought the problem may be simply the return hose was nigh on 20 years old and had become stiff and as such leaking. My problem is I can’t locate this hose, part anywhere and thought it may be possible to buy a length of generic power steering low pressure hose and cut to size. Now here is my problem, I have NO idea what size, diameter this hose is ?? 5/8 , 16 mm, 10mm etc. I could possibly take it off and possibly measure it .I would though like to buy the hose first cut it to size and have it ready to put straight on after removing the old hose . So you good Knowledgeable people help me out what size do I order to replace this hose ? IÂ’m guessing 5/8, 16 mm. Hope someone in Rover land can help as IÂ’m still in a sharp learning curve when it comes to diesels. My first Rover and I love it ! Regards icebear

A few of us had same. Yes the pipes get old and leak.

I and others took off the pipe and find a local hydraulic workshop to put a new section into the pipe. I have forgotten how much I paid I think £30 about 3 years ago but others can get it cheaper. I found no need to know what sizes as they sort it.

I remember that I found a 6 inch adjustable spanner that opens to 17mm very useful to get the 17mm pipe nut pipe off the steering rack as I felt there is not enough room for a large spanner.

Need to spend time putting it back on checking that the pipe does not rub on anything.

I cant remember but I may have cut groves in some pencil rubbers as a way to do a DIY bracket to clamp the pipe without harming it. Others may be more professional in the way they make up ways to ensure the pipe does not rub.

Hello John,

Ed3 mentions a local hydraulic workshop. Pirtek is the nationwide company that can help you. Ideally, remove the hose from the car and take it to Pirtek and they will make an exact copy. I used them years ago when I had my SD1.

there are a number of companies that make up hydraulic hoses from scratch using end fitting but new hose and crimps. Local in Ipswich is Eastern Hose wqho make up stuff for construction equipment but they also do the flexible hoses for heaters, water hoses etc. I havenet used them for R75 stuff but when renovating a 1978 Series 3 landrover they were magic.

Pirtek are a good company. We used to have various hoses made up by them when I was at work. I have also got them to make up a new length of hose for my power washer when a hole blew in it. Good prices also.
