I have regulary changed my oil and filter every 6 to 8 thousand miles instead of the recommended 15 thousand miles. Is there any point in using a different viscosity oil now it has done 260K miles. IE a thicker or thinner oil ![]() Answers on a postcard please.

![]() I would suggest that the oil you have been using has got you to 260 thousand miles why change it now, better the devil you know and all that

![]() I've stuck with 10/40 semi synthetic from new until now and at 441k the engine still seems fine. It gets changed as per the Rover service schedule.
