Default Rear Hub Nut Size ?

How'do folks

I'm getting parts sorted to get a few wee jobs done

I have new rear backplate assemblies to fix my handbrake - I ordered new hub nuts and dust covers from Rimmers last night.

One question - what size socket is required for removal/installation of the Hub nut ? (32mm?)

Think it might be 36mm. Might have an old one at home to check later.

Yep 32 and 36 if your getting a 36 be careful of the wall thickness though it won't fit inside the hub the lazer one was too big got one from Halford's guaranteed for life range which fits nice

36mm on the old one I had at home. I think I used a standard 3/4" drive socket to remove it.

Impact wrench 36mm have a thicker wall I think and don't fit in the hub as I found out to my cost as I brought one from our local car spares on a sunday as i haddnt got a 36mm socket to get the old obe off, then had to dash to Halford's with the hub on a Sunday to get one that fit !

Just saying to check your sockets will fit before you start 😊

The proper nut is 32mm AF, and 36mm ones will be aftermarket rubbish.

If ordering a CDU1534 from Rimmer Bros, you will receive a 32mm AF nut

cheers for the replies folks

I ordered the Original Rover parts rather than aftermarket ones from Rimmers

I'm guessing the parts will arrive tomorrow so i'll check the size of what arrives - i'll assume the original parts are on the car so hopefully won't require 2 socket sizes, it's a Good excuse to acquire more if i need the 2 anywho

ECP have a thin walled deep socket for this job - only in 36mm tho from what i found.

thanks for the heads up r.e Halfords - I'd rather a single hex pattern socket so i'll see what's on offer

When changing both sides you can swap the original nuts over and then, unless you are unlucky, will have a fresh bit of the nut sidewall to stake in.

I've heard some folks say this is ok - I buy new bolts even when not really required, so for a Bolt that is not intended to be reusable
