Default Another random fault.

Well, the brake lights are now behaving themselves after a squirt of WD. Latest fault is the central locking. Beeps and won't lock with the fob. Disconnect battery, (only for a few seconds) reconnect and car locks and unlocks fine. Run the engine, switch off and car won't lock again, just beeps. Some faults are just annoying, especially electrical ones!

Ideally you could put this on a t4, and read the cause of the "mislocks".
Failing that, given the other issues you have posted about (brake light switch), can you check your carpets are dry?
I have seen similar behaviour on a car, where the EWS had been swimming, due to a sunroof drain leaking all over the EWS. One of the pins had corroded and broken off This led the car to think the key was still in the ignition, so wouldn't remote lock.

Sorry, due to a big change in home circumstances, I am unable to do any large jobs at present, but can still offer evening time diagnostics.

Don't think the carpets are wet, where is the EWS on a diesel facelift? Hate faults like this, if i can't pin it down then I think Exeter Road Garage is my nearest T4 in Newton Abbott.

Fuse 36 in the passenger compartment fusebox will have blown

Not that I spent five hours looking for the exact same fault nine years ago, and these things stick in your memory

I didn't spend 5 hours looking for the issue, on the car anyway lol. Found the solution after maybe 5 hours searching on either here or t'other side. The previous owner had actually placed a back order with rimmers, for a bcu!! He had paid for it apparently when I bought the car. Apparently 360 quid. 5pence fuse and its been behaving ever since lol.

It is amazing what some garages tell you (him) when they dont have the proper diagnostics. Same garage wanted 200 to supply and fit parking sensors. Same (I mean identical) ones I got from from ebay for 11 pounds, we spent 2 hours removing old ones and installing new.
