Default Steering wheel badge removal

Is it possible to change the badge on the steering wheel airbag without killing myself in the process?

I have a MG wheel that's going into my Rover.

It looks glued on to me. Mind you I was surprised to find the badge on my MGF was metal and held on with prongs into the cover.
I am hoping to find a replacement for the discoloured badge on my ZT and was thinking that warming it with a hair dryer and careful prying would get the badge off.
Once you have yours off please let us know how it was attached!

There is a how to somewhere on the forum.

Basically, remove the centre of the wheel, drill out the rivets (carefully!) , remove the airbag, that will reveal the tabs that hold the badge on.

Refitting, is reverse of the removal.

Yes, I do seem to remember reading something to that effect. Looking at it, that appears like the way to go.
Then alloy rivit it back into place.

Once you have yours off please let us know how it was attached!

The badge is attached by several bent over prongs like your MGF, you have to remove the airbag for access.

My concern is not setting the thing off while drilling out the six rivets that hold it in place. Perhaps I will earth the thing before I start drilling to avoid static build up.

No need to earth anything, simply drill out the pop rivets, remove the airbag assembly being careful not to unfold it, unbend the tangs securing the badge and remove.

I did this several years ago, when I converted a ZT airbag to a Rover variant sing the far nice airbag badge from a 25.

Yes, it would be. However I don't want the facelift badge that a black airbag would come with. (Contemporary model)
