3D Printers
Been thinking for a while about getting a 3D Printer - just because
Done some searching and looking at various YouTube vids, and am looking at a ANET A8. I know that they need some upgrades, but a lot of these are available so you can actually print them using the printer itself. Anyone got any advice??

It all depends on whether you like to fiddle about tuning one up , or want to print something straight out of the box ( actually never quite straight out but close .
I got a Cheepy CTC copy of Geetech Clone of a Prusa 13 . from Amazon. linky and I've fiddled and printed a few new bits to improve it and now its going pretty well , not actually produced anything particularly useful yet .. but ! that comes next . as currently making a few bits for my Next Printer .. using metal tubes as the frame . All coloured parts printed on the Cheapy printer .. Everyone in the family has a different colour prehistoric Fish keyring Chris PS got a few odd ideas for printed parts on the ZT to replace rusty clips etc ..

They are all pretty similar some with good some not so good details , I went for the Wooden frame version rather than acrylic, as wood although soft is a bit more forgiving... ( just never use loctite on the acrylics) , they all wobble a bit . but then you add all the addon stiffy bits and away you go , prints just get better.
On mine the only thing that was a bit naff was the extruder mechs , as it had no spring and was just fixed . but loaded another from thingyverse , modded ti my design on tinkercad ( online) and its sorted .. Look up thingyverse and tinkercad on the web ... well worth it as a start there is masses of 3d printing stuff on the net ( esp Youtube) ..!! Or you can leap in with a metal framed ( more expensive) one . I've bought lots of odd parts super cheap from China, bearings, nozzles, mosfets , ramps board for the next printer etc . C.

The hardest bit is drawing it up as 3D Image, converting and printer shouldn't be a prob ..
Could be possible to create a 3d image from a load of Pictures there are odd apps for mobile that do a reasonable job
