It's down to the senior mods.

I think there is something tucked away somewhere, but I agree it should be made much more obvious.
I'll report one of our posts and that'll bring it to their attention.
I dislike doing that generally, as they probably already have loads on their plate (I've been a mod on other forums) tbh.

[QUOTE=Anon3;1712491]That's one very tidy looking motor
I see you've got the belts and water pump on your to-do list.

Unless you really want to do them (and I guess it always makes sense), I really wouldn't overly worry about it.

I've just had my belts done after only 40k, but more importantly, 13 years.
The mechanic and I decided the pump didn't need changing.
And my experience tells me the belts didn't need changing either, really.

My feeling is that the service advise of 90k or 6 years for the belts is very over-cautious

I was in the same boat as you last year, my car a 51 plate ZT190, had about 43K on the clock but despite the age the belts hadn't been changed. After a
lot of thought I decided to change them along with the water pump. After the change the mechanic showed me the belt and it looked like new and the pump was good to. Then he showed me a tensioner that was right on the verge of seizing, he said "if it had seized it would have torn the belt to shreds".
So my advice would be to get them changed asap, even if only to ensure the condition of the tensioner etc.

Oops, no I won't, as that's not what the "report" button is for.

I'll PM one of the mods

I'd assume it had water leaking on it or something then?
I ask that, as after 13 years, my tensioners were in very good nick.

In fairness, I suppose there will always be different situations, but my opinion says the belts don't need changing as soon as the schedule says, on the whole.
Your experience seems to back that up, but yes, the tensioners may well be something else.

I'd never specifically advise against having the belts done, as it's always a good idea.
