Here's a real classic!
One of very few 'classic cars' that I would wish to own and drive.

Beautiful car. Always wanted one.
Shame it was plagued by typical BL inadequacies at the time - probably would've left it in better regard than it currently is! |

Sd1 is where l lost interest in Rover's new output though in the way of things they don't look quite as bad to me as they used to. When l bought my P5B back in the day, the girlfriend of my friend with a 3500 wedgie decided she'd rather ride in my car. She didn't but expressed the preference.
Another friend had a five-speed 2000 which made it a pleasant cruiser. They did have extraordinarily uncomfortable rear seats though.

The bit that fascinates/concerns me the most is that somehow the hierarchy of current manufacturers don't seem to have learnt the lessons from history.
An acquaintance of mine runs a BMW X5 full fat M Power. They are in the fortunate position to be able to change to a brand new car every 2 years. Looked at a Range Rover. Seriously considered getting one until they looked into build quality and reliability. Then bought another X5. . Apparently the BMW dealer bends over backwards to keep their custom. And they get some absolutely top of the range courtesy car when theirs has a service etc. I wonder why...... A friend of theirs bought a Land Rover. Ditched it after 18 months and a string of issues and will never have another. Daughter in Law has a KIA. Bought at 5 years old with a couple of years of manufacturer warranty left. It's had a couple of issues which is not really too surprising for a 5-6 year old car. The dealer has been fantastic. No sucking teeth or trying to wriggle out of stuff. Just apologise for it going wrong, book it in, get it done and hand it back. Guess what she'll be having next... And to quote Churchill: "Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it." Last edited by AndyN01; 6th October 2021 at 15:16.. |

Apparently the VIN was in between two recall groups. It went from a value of ten grand to zero instantly and I will never buy another Kia!

And that leads nicely on to the next part of the process where there's certain car manufacturers I'll never, ever, purchase another car from regardless of how much the press etc. say that their latest offering is brilliant, fantastic and the "bad old days" are well and truly behind them. And you're doing exactly the same. . I really do wonder if they are remotely bothered about us - because there will always be someone else coming along, so who cares? Maybe they'd like to think about how many manufacturers are left and what does history tell them about producing unreliable, shoddily put together vehicles and poor customer service. |
