Default Advice please

I had a seizure at the weekend and as a result the Doc has advised I now have to advise the dvla that I can't drive for at least 12 months.

I am not sure what to do with my car.

If I put my car off the road for a year what would I need to do to ensure it was in good working order if I was able to return to driving in a year? I do have somewhere where I can store it but it open to the elements.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

John.

Hi John that is sad news, not being able too drive, I think the car should be jacked up store the wheels, release the hand brake and maybe start her up once a week,
Look? I am sure the forum will give you a more comprehensive list of what to do.

If it's going to be out in the elements I'd put a large cover from Halfords over it too.

Sorry to hear that. As an Epileptic I feel your pain.

In regards to the car, pretty much what everybody has said - keep it covered and start the car every so often.

That is sad news. Do you perhaps have a friend or family member who could take the car for a drive and give the wheels a turn once a month?

Hope you get your health sorted out soon.

As far as the car goes, I had the 45 off the road for nearly 3 years, I did run it once a month-battery did need replacing at the end of it. I replaced two tyres that had shown signs to cracking and cleaned the brakes out. Other than a very very good clean the car went through MOT and is now used daily.

As for covers.... Only if they are very well secured and removed on sunny days to air the cars. believe that they do more harm than good at times, destroying paintwork.
