siemens vdo to erisin uprade
Hi,
Have bought a erisin sat nav double din to replace the siemens vdo unit currently in the car, having a problem trying to suss out the wiring to change the units over. Have attached a few photos, if some magician knows the answer! The first photo is the vdo unit i am taking out, second is the iso lead supplied with the erisin and the third photo is the existing wiring loom in the car. Thanks. Steve.

You need a BMW to ISO connector

Thats what i have been looking for but nothing seems to match up with the existing connectors and the lead supplied with the erisin unit
have looked at that lead a few times but how does that match up between the erisin connections and the loom in car? Sorry if i am being silly here!!

Ah, just looked again at your pics, the second pic are the connectors for earlier cars (BMW) loom, the last pic shows the plugs which are fitted to later cars,(ISO) so should plug straight in.

Got me stumped then Perhaps someone else knows
Does the big black plug not match the adapter plug? Or perhaps the 2 smaller plugs from the car loom fit into the black one? Last edited by suzublu; 14th January 2021 at 14:46.. |

Nothing matches up, only the supplied connector plugs in to the back of the unit. Only thing i can think of is to get a 2x8pin male lead to fit the car loom and splice into the wires on the iso lead they supplied, after cutting the old round pin plug? Would just be a case of sorting the swc plugs.

All sorted, got hold of a 2x8 pin plug lead and connected that to the lead supplied with the unit.
Just need to get swc working, wired the 2 swc wires on unit to the two wires from the blue plug and nothing happened, otherwise all good!!

Also what did you do with original aerial lead.?.FAKRA ADAPTER?

I bought a 2x8 pin lead and connected that in place of the round pin lead supplied with the unit. The lead i sourced had the connections printed on the wires, although the wire colours matched up, just had to swap the yellow and red leads over. The blacks are earth, the aerial lead i got was from ebay( item no; 18450587740), it is a fakra to radio din lead, worked fine. The swc controls, i wired the swc 1 and 2 to blue/orange and blue/purple but did not work. Searching on the forum, i found that someone wired it up as ; swc1 to blue/purple and the ground(black) lead from unit to blue/orange. This allowed me to program the controls on the unit, but when i came to use the controls on the steering wheel , they did the opposite to what they should do, i.e. mode button adjusted the volume and volume button changed stations/ tracks. Didnt do anymore to the swc but maybe i need to use the blue/orange to swc 1? Will maybe try again at the weekend. The lack of power to the unit, i presume you have checked the fuse on the back of the unit and in the fuse box? Maybe double check the wiring you have modified? Steve.
