I prefer an 8mm socket key, used with a long extension bar, you can then undo it via the wheel arch, far easier!

I have 3/8 drive hex keys, a set of the axle plug keys, and actual Allen keys, to be fair if you are using reasonable Allen keys, and I was using genuine Allen keys, then they are not a problem, however it's whatever you prefer. Brian |

The ONLY way to refill properly IMO is to use the funnel and hosepipe method.
Can't get much easier. |

Gonna save it until the weekend, when weather should be warmer! Plus I'll warm the oil if needed to make it runnier. I might need an extension on my 12" bar to get enough torque to crack those plugs. Any tips for getting them loose, - blowtorch, soak with release fluid, hit with hammer and drift?

These are not high torque items Andrew, and I've never had any issues removing them ever, the usual tighten first then slacken has always been the order of the day. What causes issues are using the wrong sized tools, and putting the mark of the devil on the hexagons. If you fancy, take a run east at the weekend, and we can do it while the gear oil is piping hot Brian |

Thanks for the offer, Brian. Hopefully, using the right tool this time will sort it.
