Clf - yes, but I have no thrust bearing noise - so far! Because oof the stupid/clever design of the thrust-bearing/slave cylinder, I believe the demise of one part is shortly followed by the other. I reckon the mechanic had continuous pressure on the thrust bearing longer than i have ever exerted on one in my life - including when I was taught to drive in a HC Viva, and the driving instructor insisted I hold the car on the handbrake, keeping the revs up, with the clutch at biting point. When you let the handbrake off, the car took off like a rocket. But then changing the clutch on a Viva took about 2 hours!

Thanks to all who have suggested the teardrop mounting and how to examine it. Took mine off, and it looks good UNTIL YOU EXAMINE IT MORE CLOSELY. (The twisting of the bushes with a screwdriver really does show it up.) So a new one is on order. I'll so love it if I can take it back to the garages and tell them it's sorted!

Maybe go back to the garage and tell them they owe you a replacement clutch for the one they wrecked

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.
